Hi, and welcome to this week’s miscellany of opportunities and events, including a lovely art in the archive bursary opportunity and a new feature – an interview with Claire Coache about The Ford Collective.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – ART IN THE ARCHIVE BURSARY

The Women’s Art Library and Feminist Review are inviting submissions for the Art in the Archive Bursary 2020.
This year’s aim is to create a “remote residency” based in the Women’s Art Library collection as an unofficially digitized archive. The residency will be facilitated by the collection’s curator to ensure an in-depth engagement with the WAL material regardless of whether the collections are physically accessible or not.
The residency is supported by a grant of £1850 + £250 to be used towards a publication/output platformed through Feminist Review. Projects can be devised as digital or not, but will need to based on research in the WAL collection.

OUTSIDE IN HUB MICROSITE LAUNCH

Outside In have launched their Midlands Hub Microsite. They are a charity whose aims are to support artists who face significant barriers to the art world due to health, disability, social circumstance or isolation. Outside In’s work covers three main areas: Artist development, exhibitions and training.  They have a new digital exhibition space, and to find out more about this, details are on their website.

DIGITAL DIASPORA: THE MIDLANDS COVID-19 PROJECT, REFRAMED

ReFramed and BCVA are offering two £500 bursaries for emerging artists from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic communities living within the Midlands. These bursaries will enable two visual artists to document and explore the effects of COVID-19 in their communities/homes (whilst also following government guidelines).

CALL FOR ARTISTS: SCHWARMEREI ONLINE MEMBERS SHOW 2020, ORT GALLERY

Ort Gallery’s members are the Schwarmerei. Every year Ort exhibit  members’ art work in a group show celebrating the very best local talent. This year members will takeover Ort’s online gallery and social media throughout August. More details here.

MANCHESTER ART GALLERY UNLOCKED

ARTS COMMUNITY PROTEST AT THE COURTYARD

The Ford Collective are organising an arts community protest at The Courtyard on Saturday 11th July. More details below:

The arts community across the UK will be joining together at this time to protest the importance of the Arts and put pressure on Oliver Dowden to take us seriously and ensure the future of the industry. Please dress in black but bring creative, colourful posters or banners and show off our industry’s beautiful talent.

Please note: we are unable to supply face masks and hand gel so please bring your own supplies, drinking water and sun cream (if required).

They will meet on Saturday 11 July at 11.45am in the carpark of The Courtyard, Hereford (HR4 9JR) and move into position for the protest to begin at 12pm.
